Philosophy
We believe that each child is unique bringing with them a host of thoughts, ideas, abilities, inspirations and traditions to be valued and shared with others in the group.
Each child learns in different ways and therefore every experience needs to be multidimensional and to suit the preferred learning style of each child, whether that is kinaesthetic, visual, auditory or multi-sensory.
We believe that every child has different emotional needs and should be treated with care, comfort, empathy and understanding.
It takes an entire village to raise a child. Therefore strong bonds need to be formed and communications open between parents and teachers. Community support is sought when required and everyone involved in the child’s life, work together as a consistent and united team.
Having children’s basic needs met of food, water, warmth, shelter, care, comfort, rest and safety are of paramount concern.
Children’s minds also need to be stimulated and challenged by continual interesting, fun and meaningful experiences.
Teachers start by finding out everything they can about an individual child through discussions with parent and child and observations of child’s play, interactions and abilities. Then teachers can scaffold and extend the child from where they are and help them to grow and develop and learn.
Teachers help to create magic and mystery and excitement and a love and passion for life -long learning.
Children are showered with praise and appreciation and attention for their efforts. They are gently guided, redirected and helped to think and solve problems when their behaviour is dangerous or inappropriate.
Within The Village there are many people working together to care for, teach and guide the young lives of the children in our care so they can reach their fullest potential. |
